Full Wrap, Partial Wrap or Vehicle Lettering: Which Fits Your Work Vehicle?

Your work vehicle travels between job sites, suppliers and customers every week. Clear graphics help people recognize your business along the way. But how much of the vehicle should you cover?

For contractors and trades, the choice usually comes down to a full wrap, a partial wrap or vehicle lettering. The right option depends on your vehicle, budget and the look you want.

Full wraps

A full wrap covers most exterior body panels, giving your design space for brand colours, a prominent logo and supporting graphics. It’s worth considering if you want a distinctive look or consistent branding across several vehicles.

More coverage doesn’t mean more information. Your business name, main service and contact details should still be easy to read. A strong design gets the message across quickly, without filling every panel with text.

Partial wraps

A partial wrap covers selected areas and uses the original paint colour as part of the design. It can give your vehicle a stronger visual presence than lettering alone, without the coverage of a full wrap.

The key is planning where the graphics start and finish. Doors, handles and body lines should work with the layout, so the result looks intentional rather than unfinished.

Vehicle lettering

Lettering focuses on your business name, logo, services and contact details, applied to selected areas. It’s a practical option for a straightforward, professional appearance without covering large sections of the vehicle.

For example, a plumber might use a clear logo, “Plumbing & Drain Services” and a phone number. That’s easier to understand at a glance than a long list of every service the company offers.

Which option fits your business?

Choose a full wrap for broad coverage and a more distinctive branded appearance. Consider a partial wrap if you want larger graphics that work with your existing paint. Choose lettering when a clean, simple business introduction is the priority.

Your vehicle’s shape, paint condition and panel space matter too. Looking at a layout on your actual van or truck is more useful than choosing by coverage percentage alone.
